Aside from the obvious platforming requirements (velocity-based movement, object to world collision), the physics system needs to be able to handle cancelling forces on specific objects (nullifying gravity while bursting), and registering different types of collisions depending on the objects involved (hazard collision will work differently than regular world collision). There will also need to be special considerations for the player running along surfaces other than the floor, and magnetic objects that apply additional forces to objects in the world.
